1. Wat is het idee?
Het idee is simpel: ik probeer zoveel mogelijk pixels te verkopen voor een aantal goede doelen;
doordat ikzelf enige tijd terug met een geval van jeugdkanker bent geconfronteerd, waarbij het allerliefste en meest bijzondere jongetje dat ik ooit heb gekend het leven heeft gelaten gaat 35 % van de opbrengst naar de bestrijding van en het onderzoek naar jeugdkanker via het KWF
(zoals u weet; het kankerfonds).
30% van de opbrengsten gaat naar de door de aardbeving getroffenen in Pakistan. Via het rode kruis, de rode halve maan, het rode ruitje of voor mijn part via Katja Schuurman..
Dus is iedereen welkom om deze pixels te kopen, die worden aangeboden in 100 pixel-blokken (gemeten in 10 x 10 formaat)
U kunt zien dat de sitepagina verdeeld is in 10000 van die 100 pixel-blokken (er zijn dus 1 miljoen pixels totaal)
Reden om minimaal 100 pixels af te nemen is gelegen in het feit dat 1 pixel niet of nauwelijks waarneembaar is en daardoor zonder betekenis.
U kunt zoveel pixels afnemen als U wilt, zolang er beschikbaar zijn ( rechtsboven loopt een teller mee)
Als U pixels aanschaft, kunt U in de ruimte die u heeft besteld Uw logo/plaatje/advertentie van uw keuze kwijt. U kunt deze ruimte door laten linken naar Uw eigen website.
Obscene of agressieve afbeeldingen worden niet geplaatst.
De pixels die U koopt worden permanent op de website getoond. De homepage (thuispagina) verandert niet. Behalve op woensdag om precies 12.00 u. tot 12.10 u.
Dan wordt de pagina even helemaal ‘ingekleurd’ en van deze afbeelding wordt door mij een schilderij gemaakt, dat wordt verloot onder de kopers.
Expositie over een half jaar; plaats en exacte datum worden nog bekend gemaakt.
Van het geld dat wordt verdiend wordt de site minimaal 5 jaar online gehouden, maar het is natuurlijk de bedoeling dit zolang mogelijk te doen.
Waardoor, op de wat langere termijn waarde van de pixels zal stijgen. U koopt eigenlijk een stuk internet geschiedenis!
2. Wie ben ik?
Mijn naam is Adri Munier en een paar maanden terug las ik op de site www.heelvervelend.nl het volgende bericht;
So I had this little idea the other day. I was trying to think of interesting ways to make some cash before going to Uni (which is in about a month's time) and somehow this crazy thought entered my head: I'll try and make a million dollars, by selling 1,000,000 pixels, for $1 each.
And so 'The Million Dollar Homepage' is born...
Ik vond het zoals veel van die berichten op die site vermakelijk, meer niet. Het bleef wel op een bepaalde ondefinieerbare manier hangen....
Nu, een paar maanden later, neemt de druk om een betaalde baan te vinden enorm toe.
Ik loop tegen de 50, dus dat is niet makkelijk.
Even een korte uitleg; een paar jaar geleden werkte ik als vertegenwoordiger voor een groot bedrijf dat iets voor KPN deed.
Er volgde ontslag.
Ik scheidde van mijn vrouw en ik verkocht mijn huis.
Zuid-Amerika: ik kom eraan! was de gedachte..
Tot ik mijn huidige vrouw tegen het lijf liep.
Ik woon nu met haar en haar twee kinderen in haar huis.
Kind nummer 3 studeert in Delft.
Het geld dat ik toen incasseerde voor mijn huis is inmiddels op.
Ik wil niet naar de Sociale Dienst om mijn hand op te houden. Alsjeblieft niet zelfs.
En ik heb al heel wat (jammerlijk mislukte) pogingen achter de rug om op een gewone manier mijn geld te verdienen...
Vandaar deze website.
Die houdt mij aan het werk. (Al weken; ik hoop echter nog weken, maanden, jaren)
Als u besluit wat pixels te kopen dan gaat dat zeker lukken!

3. Is dit een grap/of oprecht?
Het is zo oprecht als oprecht kan zijn. En uiteraard ga ik ervan uit dat er een hoop humor gemaakt gaat worden, maar dit initiatief is zeker geen grap. Ik verkoop echt waar pixels voor 1 € per stuk en daardoor blijf ik onafhankelijk van de Sociale Dienst.
Mijn beroep is Pixeldealer en dat zeg ik zonder blikken of blozen.
4. Hoe kom je op dit idee?
Het idee is geboren uit de simpele noodzaak aan het werk te blijven.
Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat het internet een steeds grotere rol zal spelen in het dagelijks leven en ik wil daar graag bij betrokken zijn; deze onderneming stelt mij daar toe in staat.
Ik ben uiteraard te rade gegaan bij www.themilliondollarhomepage.com de bedenker van het originele concept.
Ik heb in licentie het script gekocht en het naar beste vermogen aangepast.
5. Waarom 1 miljoen €?
Waarom niet? Zo hoog mogelijk inzetten dan blijft er genoeg te doen.1 miljoen is ambitieus, ik wil het origineel zoveel mogelijk intact laten. Ik hoef echter geen miljonair te worden; de hoofdzaak blijft de inzameling voor de doelen die boven omschreven staan. Als ik maar aan het werk blijf en er mensen mee geholpen worden..
6. Wat gebeurt er met dat geld?
Zoals gezegd; het meeste zal gaan naar het Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds (KWF) en dan meer specifiek naar het nog vroegtijdiger onderzoeken en bestrijden van kanker op (zeer) jonge leeftijd.
Dat is nl. een ramp.
Voor het kind.
Voor de ouders en familie, kennissen, etc.
Voor wie niet?
En naar rampenbestrijding in het algemeen; ik zit hier rustig achter mijn computer; elders proberen anderen de kou te ontvluchten op zoek naar bijvoorbeeld een tent om te schuilen.
U koopt die tent als u wat pixels aanschaft.
7. Waarom zou ik pixels kopen?
Omdat U met de ruimte die U koopt, ruimte reserveert voor Uw doel; de kans dat Uw site veel meer bezoekers/kopers oplevert in de komende tijd is voor minimaal 5 jaar gegarandeert.
8. Waarom kan ik er niet 1 enkele kopen?
Het zou misschien wel leuk zijn als iedereen er 1 kan kopen. ( de doelstelling zou misschien sneller gehaald worden; ik blijf de optie wel openhouden)
In de praktijk zet het echter geen zoden aan de dijk; de effectiviteit zou geheel verloren gaan.
Je kunt op 1 pixel geen boodschap/logo/plaatje kwijt, dus wordt het zinloos.
9. Hoe lang zal deze site online zijn?
Gegarandeerd tot 14 december 2010. Uiteraard echter tot zo lang menselijkwijs mogelijk.
Het idee is een internet tijdscapsule te creeeren: een unieke permanente website.
Er verandert ook op het internet van alles in moordend tempo; hier niet en U kunt daar onderdeel van gaan uitmaken!
10. Als je geld wilt verdienen, waarom ga je dan niet gewoon aan het werk?
Ja, als U iets voor me heeft; neem contact op; praten kan geen kwaad.
Het werken aan deze site kost sowieso al de nodige uren en de doelstelling is dus om dat nog veel langer en veel meer te doen. Het werkt tevens twee kanten op, ik verwezenlijk mijn ideaal en ik ben bezig met een grote liefde.
11. Ben je niet bang voor plagiaat/ dieven van het concept?
Eerlijk gezegd; maakt me dat niet veel uit; uiteindelijk heb ik er vertrouwen in dat met de juiste aanpak de mensen deze site zullen omarmen; het is de eerste in zijn soort.
Bovendien zal ik er alles aan doen om de site zich steeds verder te (laten) ontwikkelen.
De visualiteit neemt een belangrijke plaats in en ik ben er van overtuigd dat dat meer en meer zal toenemen.

1. What’s the idea?
The idea is simple; I am trying to sell as many as possible pixels for 2 charity goals.
Because I recently was confronted with a case of cancer, that cost the life of the most intelligent and sensible sweet boy I ever met 45 % will be given to the scientific search for causes of cancer amongst the very young children.
In The Netherlands the KWF is the organisation that initiates this.
Another 45 % of the money raised will save lives in Pakistan, the country suffering a major earthquake on the 8th of October causing tragedy and destruction. The money will be given to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
So, everyone is welcome to buy my pixels, which are available in 100-pixel 'blocks' (each measuring 10x10 pixels). You will see the homepage is divided into 10,000 of these 100-pixel blocks (hence there are 1,000,000 pixels in total). The reason for selling them in 100-pixel blocks is because anything smaller would be too small to display anything meaningful.
You can buy as many pixels as you like, as long as there are some available (see the live stats in the top right corner of the page). When you buy some pixels, you can then display an image/ad/logo of your choice in the space you have purchased. You can also have the image click through to your own website. However, no obscene or offensive images are allowed.
The pixels you buy will be displayed on the homepage permanently. The homepage will not change.Exception on Wednesday 12 o’clock sharp until 12h.10. The page will be ‘coloured in’ with the images at that time present. The image thus created will be ‘immortalized’ on canvas. This painting will be put up in a raffle for the buyers.
They will be exposed in a gallery in 6 month’s time. Detail will follow.Using some of the money I make from the site, I guarantee to keep it online for at least 5 years, but hopefully much longer. I want it to become a kind of internet time capsule. So, in the long run, I believe the pixels will offer good value. You will have a piece of internet history!

I thought like; well just another amusing post, nothing less or more, for that matter. Somehow however it kind of sticked to me ..Now, a couple of months later, running out of money the pressure of getting a paid job is increasing very hard.
I am almost 50 years of age, so like anywhere on this planet, this will not be easy
Short cut; a few years back I had a job as a Field Sales Manager for a company that cooperated with the major telephone company in Holland called KPN.
I got sacked.
I divorced my wife and sold the house.
The idea was; South America, here I come!
Than I met the woman I am still very much in love with.
I am now living with her and her 2 children in her house.
Child no.3 is studiying in Delft (World renowned for Delft Blue and the painter Vermeer).
The money I made selling the house is gone.
I simply will not go to Social Services in this country to get money from Welfare.
I won’t.
It’ll make you feel a beggar and that’s not my cup of tea.
I already made too many mistakes doing business.
Did a lot of crappy jobs in order to make a living.
So here it is. This site will pull me through. It already offers me a goal for weeks.
Hopefully for months and many years ahead!

5. Why 1 million €?
Why not? Go for the sky and reach out for the highest possible, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s ambitious but not impossible.
All the money in the world is needed for getting the victims to survive this winter. It’s equally of the highest importance to do research on cancer.
And it’ll keep me of the streets.
Just working hard.
6. What’s happening with that money?
As mentioned earlier: The KWF ( the cancerfighting organisation in The Netherlands)
is getting a big amount of every € invested.
Fight cancer; especially for the very young.
If and when this happens to anybody it’s a disaster.
For the child itself.
For the parents.
The family, acquantainces etc.
For who is it not?
The other goal is of equal importance; I’m sitting here quite relaxed behind the computerscreen.
At this very moment people are running for shelter.
Literally a tent could help.

8. Can I buy just 1 Pixel?
It might be nice if everyone could buy just 1 Pixel but it is in fact not effective
1 Pixel could simply not be found on the screen and there’s the impossibility placing an ad on a single Pixel.
Businesses can profit putting their logo or whatever message on a block of Pixels.
On the other hand: Individuals can group together buying a block or more blocks!
9. For how long will this page be online?
Guaranteed till 14 December 2010. The site will be online for 5 years, however the aim is to keep the site online forever (or as long as humanly possible).
The idea is to create something of an internet time capsule: a homepage that is unique and permanent. Everything on the internet keeps changing so fast, it will be nice to have something that stays solid and permanent for many years. You can be a part of that!
10. When you want to earn something, why don’t you get a job?
In fact this is a job. It is as timeconsuming as a regular one, even more when you consider there’s more to do than just sit and wait. But it’s more than rewarding: I am working hard and what’s more; it’s big fun!
Creating my own job and writing some blogs and marketing the lot, it’s quite exhilarating!
11. Aren’t you afraid of copycats?
To be quite honest, no not really. There are already a lot of copycats but I believe that the goals involved in this project will make it a success.
After all, who would not support the objectives that can and with your help will be reached?
